George Floyd: The Media Isn’t Helping By Referring To Rioters And Looters As Protestors
--
The media painted peaceful [Michigan] protest as unlawful and in the next breath painted rioting and looting as lawful.
The death of George Floyd was a tragedy not just because a life was lost, but of the way it was lost. Police brutality in America is getting out of hand. George was killed over a possible forgery of a $20 dollar bill; the Federal government doesn’t even issue the death penalty for forgery and counterfeiting money.
There were some positive outcomes, the four police officers who were involved in the incident were fired and the FBI has opened an investigation. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said in a statement, “Being black in America should not be a death sentence” and I believe everybody is on the same page with the Mayor.
If you were to believe the media, or even just listen to them you would think there’s an epidemic of white cops killing black men. The media never reports on black men killing white men or white men killing white men or especially black men killing black men — such as the everyday occurrence in Chicago.
The media smears peaceful lockdown protestors while defending rioters and looters.
I don’t even try to have any kind of dialogue when it comes to anything related to race. I try to see the other side and I really do understand the problems blacks have faced throughout their history but I don’t like being called a racist; I don’t need that and I think that’s what’s prolonging negative race relations in America.
Whites are called racists, and there are racists in America — but not to the extent to which is claimed — when they try to be understanding and people don’t like that. So, in order to avoid being called racists, whites quit trying to advance healthy race relationships. This is how I see it.
I know you’ve heard this complaint of the media focusing on and only on white men — specifically white cops — killing black men. The only exception is white women — Karen’s — calling the police on black people both men and women. What is unique with this killing are the protests, it coincided with the anti-lockdown protests at the Michigan capital against Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s lockdown laws.
